RE: Caution: Myrtle Beach / Lakewood

Just another reason to add to our why not to use that CG, along with their refusal to enforce their own rules, about Golf Carts being recklessly operated by kids and drunks.

RE: TAKE NOTE!! Jackson/Snake River KOA- Wyoming

You just described the majority of the KOAs we ever stayed in and the reason we quit using them over 10 years ago. Keep On Adding the extra charges on to an already unrealistic base rate, for usually a run down facility.

RE: Another truck was stolen

All we need to eliminate the illegals on the border is a 'shoot on site' order - it would STOP this nonsense...but then, that's not 'politically correct' now, is it? But then, the death penalty isn't 'politically correct' either...but in Texas, we have an express lane. Now if the Native American Indians had guns and land mines when our ancestors came across the borders I guess we would not have this "nonsense" to worry about. What made our ancestors entry into this country legal? PLEASE...live in the NOW...LAWS are being broken and there is a solution to those laws.Sorry, but our ancestors broke the then law of the land, stole from and murdered the natives in the process. I used to have a lot of respect for some on this forum, but the answers here and the answers on a thread on the workamping forum 2 days ago have really appalled me. We are changing from a nation of the free world to a nation just like those in the far east or Africa, next will be a dictatorship.

RE: Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service

Here is a copy of the Good Sam ERS benefits brochure and also, here is a copy of the Coach Net ERS benefits brochure to compare. Lay out the services and restrictions, side by side and you will see a big difference between the two. We have had excellent service from Coach Net, so we stay with them.

RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!

The interpretation would need to be reasonable. The main problem lies with the people that write these laws. They should make them more clear. Here is this new law in California that we're talking about: "23123. (a) A person shall not drive a motor vehicle while using a wireless telephone unless that telephone is specifically designed and configured to allow hands-free listening and talking, and is used in that manner while driving." It is pretty clear to me! You are allowed to use the phone as long as it has handsfree listening and talking It says nothing about not being allowed to dial or hit the send button or hit the receive button. How could this be any less clear? This is why cops should not be interpreting the law it is not their job. They should be following what the CA DMV and the CHP determine to be the definition. Excuse me, but the last time I checked, CHP was a bunch of Cops, so why is their interpretation any more correct. CA DMV can't get their act together on issuing an RV license, so again why should they be making any decision that affects the public. Also, you need to read a few definitions of the language used in the law, specifically the words, shall not and using. LAPD has a much better grip on this than the other agencies, IMHO.

RE: Rate your sleep sofa

Hi all: Need your help. I want a real comfortable sofa and a real nice bed in a sleep sofa. Can't seem to find both in one unit. I'm real tired of that miniature J thing they call a sofa and also would like our kids and guests to sleep in comfort. I know someone who may design a super comfortable sleep sofa for us. But they want the effort to be worthwhile to develop to offer to future customers. Two questions: 1) How would you rate your sleep sofa on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being best)? A) Setting- 5 or 6.....Sleeping- 8 or 9 Removed both sofas and gave them to houseboat owners at Raystown Lake. 2) Do you really need a sleep sofa in a Class A? A) NO you don't. We bought 2 Lazy Boy recliners to replace our 2 sofas. Had a computer center built in where 1 sofa was and now are much happier. Just curious. Scott

RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!

As I said earlier, it appears LAPD has it right and the others are reading to much into the law. Hopefully the 1st few court cases will be before a Judge with a spine and the outcome will back the LAPD Officers.

RE: Airtabs 7/2 2500 miles update with MPG

Bottom line -- AirTabs produce 1% to 5% better mileage and an increase in stability at modest cost. I'm sorry to have to correct you again, but the bottom line is that there is no proof one way or the other that this product is effective. There is no difference between the "proof" provided and that famous commercial on the Weather Channel (...apply directly to the...) which doesn't even claim to do anything but people buy it and swear by the product. I'm glad you are a satisfied customer of this product. It's great that it makes you feel good about your purchase. I'm very happy for you. Please though, just keep your opinions about the efficacy of it to simple claims unless you have actual empirical proof. Thank you and be glad we live in such a great country where people can have open debate about any topic. Edit: I want to add that I have never said once that these devices don't work or that the people who claim they do are liars, cheats, thieves, etc. I have only stated that the claims people have made about these things are nothing but conjecture and opinion. It is not good science to base a decision to buy on hearsay, conjecture or personal claims, period. I believe in the scientific method of proof and any other way of demonstrating efficacy is not valid and irrelevant.I agree, you never said that, but IMHO you sure inferred it more than once, including this post and edit..

RE: campgrounds are full

There are 3 commercial CGs in town and today, is the 1st time this year they have been full. Tomorrow there are vacancies in all 3, so many are very local and not staying the whole weekend, plus here in Mormon country, there are always people leaving Sat for home. Travel is way down here.

RE: Pre-Buying fuel

I have heard of something similar to this, it's called CFN (commercial fueling network). There is a station here in town. When my dad first got his diesel he went to inquire about it. You prepay a certain amount like $500 or more and leave a credit card on file. Not sure if there was a yearly fee for the membership. But I do see the CFN signs at other stops where trucks would get fuel. Most a larger scale most utility and government prepay for there fuel a year in advance because of there budgets and most have there own fuel stations. But yes this website and system looks fishy to me. The way I see it we're gonna screwed no matter what.We have and use CFN, which is nothing like the above. It is a way of joining forces and buying in volume, so generally the price is lower. I have bought diesel for as much as .35 cents below the local pump price through CFN and then have also had to pay within .01 cent of pump price, so it is a savings but can vary. Our account is set up for "all fuels" so we can fuel both MH and toad.

RE: mode button allison

Same engine and transmission.. I generally have it on... Does not make any difference on flat terrain but will be a help in terms of fuel economy for rolling hills. Since what it will do is keep it in 6th gear longer... JohnnyLike JohnnyT, I have made it a habit of turning it on, so when we get to the hills and mountains, it is working. Found that on the average, it increased our MPG by 1, so it is worth running in the economy mode.

Isn't it funny, when a person follows another around and disputes every word that's said. The sky is blue Joe, dispute that. LOL. You have your opinion and I have mine, is that BS also? Edit Remco is unfriendly Edit

RE: Idaho Campgrounds with sites near lakes or rivers?

There are many in west central Idaho on Cascade Lake, like Crown Point SP and others, then there is Pondarosa SP on Payette Lake in McCall. Plus both towns have several commercial RV parks on the Payette river.

RE: Wal-Mart parking lot

What no a/c at walmart???????????? Everytime I stop, they give me an extension cord that I hook up. Where you walldockers stopping? On edit, after posting this , I just KNOW someone will ask me , so here goes. I pull in around 5pm, park at the auto service center, go in and tell them I need 10 new tires installed. Of course I know they quit work at 5PM. The mgr will say "come back at 8am" and I say "cant, got bad tires now ". I then ask if I can spend the night there waiting for the mechanics to come in. "Sure" he says (or believe me some are women) and then I say "Well can I run my extenstion cord in here for the night?" and he/she says "sure we can do that". I leave at 500 am ......bad boy.......... gosh forgive me.......This is telling and disappointing to read. Stealing and lying, all to a Wal*Mart employee, then stealing from Wal*Mart. You're scum.darn whacky, I'm taking you fishing with me. You are 2 for 2 now. LOL

RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!

Actually would be nice if the LA cops read the law. They are giving tickets to people for dialing. One cop told a friend that he cannot touch the phone or even voice dial if he has to press send. Typical LA Cop stuffActually LEO doesn't interpret the new laws, that is done for them by the Prosecuting Attorney's office in their district. Then it is sent as a memo to the various Departments and read to all Officers at read-off, for a week or more. So, don't harass an Officer for doing what his local DA told him or her to do, for them to prosecute legally. I think the DA in LA has it right, as the law says, "hands free".

RE: Pre-purchase questions

No special license and I pay $500 a year for insurance with full glass coverage (Allstate). Just call your car insurer and have him quote you.I do hope you are kidding, as you are not insuring a car, but a house on wheels with all the goodies you would have in a house. Hope you don't have to try and collect from your auto insurer if you have an accident with an RV, as you will be SOL, big time. Yes, we use Allstate for our real estate, but by their own admission, they do not provide full or adequate coverage for an RV.

RE: Well, it's now official, we're in a Bear Market.

I feel we still have 12 months and 10 to 15% decrease to go before things turn around. I did make some changes from very volatile to some more classic stocks, but still, until the bull comes back around the corner, we will watch our spending. Now is not the time to buy most stocks, later in the year, maybe.

RE: Airtabs 7/2 2500 miles update with MPG

You're right, the aviation industry doesn't use "airtabs", they use "vortex generators", which are identical, and serve the exact same purpose. Take a look at all the planes you quoted and every one will have vortex generators installed. I have over 10K hours of flight time and have inspected many a vortex generator.

RE: Dash Covers

There is a vendor associated with Lazy Days in Tampa, that makes very nice custom entry mats. His price is high, $400+, last I heard and he wants the coach there for fitting and installing.
